Infants:

Infants need a safe "home away from home" where they can learn, play and grow.  Smart Start has designed a nurturing, creative world for infants that help their minds and bodies develop.  Our Center Directors and Teachers work side-by-side with our families to make this first transition away from home easy and natural for you and your child as she takes her first steps toward a bright future.  We are committed to the formation of loving, trusting bonds between infants and toddlers and their teachers.

With that, each child is assigned a primary teacher, and that teacher is responsible first and foremost for meeting your infant’s needs. This practice promotes a deeper understanding of your child’s personality, likes, dislikes, and developmental needs and creates a true community of infant childcare.

Our program emphasizes the importance of encouraging, supportive interactions between teacher and child. Caregivers sing, read, and talk with your child to help him or her with this critical developmental stage. Your child’s classroom is designed with furniture, toys, and equipment that are appropriate in size, so infants can move, explore, and play with confidence.

Program Features Include:

  • Group Interaction to spark curiosity and socialization
  • A focus on cognitive and motor skills through playtime and activities
  • Whole-child development through age-appropriate materials and toys
  • Regular communication between teachers and families to keep you informed
    about your child’s day

Toddlers:

Gear Up! Your son or daughter has taken to their feet. They walk, talk, and begin to develop relationships with one another. Smart Start’s toddler program is filled with sensory and movement experiences that emphasizes the importance of a toddler’s environment and relationships. We strive to provide a high level of interaction while individually nurturing each child.

Program Features Include:

  • Daily whole group instruction promoting social skill development
  • Development of children’s confidence, self esteem, and love of learning
  • Monthly Thematic units that provide a variety of daily activities and experiences
  • Regular communication between teachers and families to keep you informed
    about your child’s day
